When we were on our honeymoon, we went on a cruise to an island. We had our lunch on the cruise, the guy served us caramelized bananas for dessert, and they were simple and absolutely divine. I observed him sprinkling some golden caster sugar onto the bananas and placed them on a hot grill.
I just wanted to add some more character to it this simple dessert. And this is what I did…
2 TBSP unsalted butter
2 whole Bananas peeled and sliced lengthwise
5 strawberries sliced
2 TBSP golden caster sugar
1 ½ TBSP balsamic vinegar
Heat a pan, put in the butter. Sprinkle sugar on each slice of banana and strawberries. Place them cut side down onto the pan. Put in the rest of the sugar. Now add the balsamic, cook for 5 minutes on very low flame. Remove the fruits from the pan, pour the sauce over the fruits. Serve with vanilla ice cream / chocolate ganache!
